W30 Parliament Windows

The existing windows in your home are probably manufactured using the SMW range of steel profiles. This profiles are the original sections that are still used today for a lot of heritage/conservation area projects and are generally referred to by the public as 'Crittall' windows.

Steel window manufacturers have been using the SMW sections for decades and they are not for the sole use of 'Crittall Windows'. It is therefore relatively simple to match the steel sections that may have been used in the construction of your existing windows. Where appropriate we can match these windows 'like for like'.

We have been developing a new steel window system that will meet the new part L building regulations due to come into effect in April 2010. This system meets a 'C' energy rating and is registered with the BFRC (British Fenestration Rating Council) so is one of the most thermally efficient steel windows on the market.

The W30 system comes complete with an external chamfered bead that can accommodate up to an 18 mm thick highly insulating double glazed unit.

Traditional ironmongery such as external weld on hinges, brass handles and peg stays can be used to make sure that your new modern steel window still provides you with the character and authenticity that is required.

W30 Parliament WindowsThe W30 system has also been designed so that the overall aesthetics of your existing windows can be matched as close as possible. It accommodates a 18 mm double glazed unit with little extra visible section to your original windows. It can be manufactured to all 'standard' patterns and sizes that you may require.                                                                                                                             Of course it comes in galvanised finish ready for on site priming and painting. It can also be supplied with a powder coat finish in a range of colours (although Black and White are the main preferences).

The range can be specified with a number of furniture options including locking handles, peg stays, slide stays or antique iron fittings.

Windows can be constructed in 'small' panes where your existing require this. However this can increase the amount of steel section in your windows and we normally suggest a Georgian bar double glazed unit where this is the case (see photo above these are mimic bars not true Georgian steel bars).

You would think that the standard SMW range of sections is destined for the scrap heap, not so.

SMW WindowsTheir are a lot of buildings which are listed, in a conservation area or of local historic interest. In these cases a double glazed steel window may not be desired. The SMW range can offer (in most cases) an identical match to the existing steel windows that may be over seventy years old. Therefore the new steel windows can sit next to older windows with no real apparent difference.Clement Steel Windows Ltd
